Provenance: Purchased at Louisiana Furniture and Gallery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, c. 2004 Note: The self taught artist Bill Hemmerling worked with found objects and favored subjects relating to the South and African-American culture. This painting of Hemmerling's beloved dog, Muffin, evidently on a their trip to Rock City, Tennessee. The red hearts on either side of the dog express the artist's affection.
