      Antonio Bortone Maiden Marble Bust

      Est: $500 - $800

      Italy,1847-1938 Naturalistic depiction of a young woman grinning while glancing to the side while her braided hair drapes over one shoulder adorned with flowers. Bortone studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, eventually becoming an honorary professor. His monumental works can be found throughout Italy, and through these works Bortone was permitted into various Orders of Knighthood including The Order of Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro.

Dechant, co-author of the previous book, whose help in cataloguing this item was essential. Height 48 cm.
