A magical painting by fantasy artist Michael Hague depicting a snow fairy riding a reindeer in a winter wonderland. The focus of the composition is the endearing snow fairy - dressed in a white jumpsuit and hat with white-on-red polka dotted gloves and fur-trimmed, hide boots - gripping the antlers of the magnificent reindeer that she is riding. The two are traversing the snow-blanketed ground with frosty evergreens in the background beneath a dramatic starry night sky as the moon glows beyond. Size of image: 14.25" L x 11" W (36.2 cm x 27.9 cm) Size of frame: 19.5" L x 15.875" W (49.5 cm x 40.3 cm) Michael Hague studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California. NOTE A wonderful watercolor scene of a charming snow-covered village, this illustration was also done for Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. The caption in the book reads, "'Good morning, Flossie! Tell me how you are able to walk on the snow so easily.' 'It is frozen hard,' answered Flossie. 'Perhaps,' remarked Claus, thoughtfully, 'I might now carry my pack of toys to the children.'" The drawing is accompanied by a copy of the book.
