    Israhel van Meckenem (circa 1440-1503) Saint Clara (B. 126; Geisberg 341; L., Holl. 396) engraving, circa 1490, without watermark, second, final state, a fairly good impression though the plate showing various nicks and scratches in the sky, printing with a light tone, trimmed inside the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline on all sides, a few very faint foxmarks, otherwise in very good condition; with Saint John (B. 55; G. 210; L., Holl. 253) by the same hand, engraving, without watermark, Hollstein's third, final state of this rare print, some touches of pen and ink, trimmed fractionally into the platemark on three sides and close to the subject below, in good condition S. 124 x 72 mm.     ISRAHEL VAN MECKENEM Meckenheim um 1440/45 - 1503 Bocholt Der Tod Marias. Seitenverkehrte Kopie des Kupferstichs von Martin Schongauer. Kupferstich. B. 50. Hollst. und Lehrs 49, I (von VII). Mit dem Namenszug "Israhel v M" in der Platte. Wasserzeichen: Bekrönte Lilie (Lehrs WM 18). 24,7 x 16,7 cm. Unter minimalem Verlust der Darstellung beschnitten und mit winzigen Beschädigungen alt aufgezogen sowie Randbereich sorgfältig restauriert. Schwach fleckig. Toniger Abdruck vor der Schraffur im Innern des Leuchters rechts von der Kerze und allen weiteren Schraffuren und Glitscher. Sammlung Josef Grünling (vgl. Lugt 1106) und Graf Yorck von Wartburg (Lugt 2669). Das vorliegende Blatt findet Erwähnung bei Max Lehrs, Bd. IX, S. 50 in der Fußnote 11. Es wurde im Mai 1932 bei C. G. Boerner, Leipzig im Katalog 176 unter der Nummer 19 angeboten und verkauft. [ms]

    Israhel van Meckenem (circa 1440/45-1503) Saint Ursula (Bartsch 132; Geisberg 347 IV; Lehrs, Hollstein 412 IV) engraving, circa 1480, fourth, final state, a good though posthumous impression from the first quarter of the 16th century, printed with a strong platetone, on fine laid paper with a Gothic P watermark (identical to Piccard 350, Arnhem 1516), trimmed on or just inside the platemark on three sides, a narrow margin above, a 6 mm. repaired tear at the left sheet edge, some pinpoint foxing only visible verso, otherwise in very good condition S. 164 x 153 mm.

    Judith with the Head of Holophernes (Bartsch 4; Geisberg, Lehrs, Hollstein 8 IV) engraving, a very good impression of the fourth (final) state, comparing well with the impression of the third state in the British Museum, on laid paper with a Crowned Jug and Flower watermark (Lehrs 17), trimmed on or just within the borderline, possibly enhanced with a few subtle touches of pen and ink in places, with a vertical central fold, a small repaired paper loss at the central fold at top, visible mainly verso, two minute repaired holes, two tiny nicks at the lower sheet edge, generally in very good condition S. 214 x 318 mm.
