Amsterdam: Bernardus Mourik, s.d. (ca. 1768-1771). In-folio (425 x 284 mm). Titre imprimé en rouge et noir, un feuillet d'index des noms. 24 planches doubles gravées sur cuivre par Bernardus Mourik. (Trace de mouillure en marge blanche.) Veau pastiche tacheté, triple filet d'encadrement, fleurons d'angle, dos à nerfs orné, (dos passé). ÉDITION ORIGINALE de cet important ouvrage sur l'architecture des maisons longeant les canaux à Amsterdam au XVIIIe siècle. Devenue très rare, cette édition fut réimprimée à plusieurs reprises au XXe siècle. Cet ouvrage est en effet une source indispensable pour l'étude de l'architecture d'Amsterdam de cette époque. La biographie de Caspar Philip Jacobsz, très succinte, donnée par Bénézit indique qu'il grava des vues d'Amsterdam entre 1752 et 1787. TRÈS RARE, l'ouvrage ne figure pas dans les collections Fowler, Millard, et au Katalog Berlin.

One-leaf list of subscribers. 24 numbered double-page engraved plates. 19th-century red half roan, flat spine lettered in gilt (extremities lightly rubbed). RARE. THE PRINCIPAL HOUSES OF MID 18TH-CENTURY AMSTERDAM IN A PANORAMIC SERIES, published by the editor of Maandelykse Nederlandsche Mercurius, a magazine which featured illustrations of contemporary Dutch architecture and appeared almost every month in Amsterdam from 1756. After Mourik's death in 1791 the editorship of the magazine passed to Jan Augustijn Swalm, under whom it continued until Swalm's death in 1807. PROVENANCE Dr Anton C.R. Dreesmann (inventory no.
