Gemäldepaar SÜDLICHE HAFENANSICHTEN Öl auf Kupfer. Je 29 x 54 cm. In dekorativem vergoldetem Rahmen. Das erste Gemälde zeigt auf ruhiger weiter See mehrere prachtvolle Segelschiffe unter hohem hellblauem, leicht rötlichem Himmel. Am rechten Bildrand scheint eines der Schiffe gerade unterzugehen, das von mehreren besetzten Booten umgeben ist. Linksseitig die prachtvollen Gebäude einer am Ufer liegenden Stadt sowie im Vordergrund links ein schmaler Uferstreifen mit Figuren und an Land befindlichen Fischerbooten, dazu die Reste einer antiken Säulenanlage. Das zweite Gemälde zeigt auf weiter See ebenfalls mehrere Schiffe und Boote, dazu linksseitig eine große, ins Meer reichende bebaute Landzunge mit hohem Leuchtturm und zahlreichen Figuren am Ufer. In der Ferne links eine bergige, mit zahlreichen Bäumen bewachsene Anhöhe. Malerei unter hohem, teils wolkigem blau-weißem Himmel in harmonischer Farbgebung, in überwiegend differenzierter blau- und beige-grauer Farbgebung. Kleine Rahmenschäden. Anmerkung: Im vierten und fünften Jahrzehnt des 18. Jahrhunderts war Tommaso Ruiz für Karl III von Spanien tätig und es sind eine ganze Reihe von Veduten erhalten, wie die hier vorgeführten Beispiele zeigen. VEDUTE DES GOLFS VON NEAPEL Öl auf Leinwand. Doubliert. 58 x 168 cm. Rechts unten signiert und datiert „Thomase Ruiz F 1741“. Rechts oben mit Legende „Veduta del Porto di Baja“. In vergoldetem, vegetabil verziertem Rahmen. Ansicht der Bucht von Baia südlich von Neapel mit dem Castello di Baia. Auf der Legende weitere Benennung der dargestellten Orte sowie eine weitere Signatur von Ruiz. Im vierten und fünften Jahrzehnt des 18. Jahrhunderts war Tommaso Ruiz für Karl III von Spanien tätig, und es sind eine ganze Reihe von Veduten erhalten, wie dieses eindrucksvolle Beispiel aus dem Jahre 1741. Vier Jahre zuvor stellte Ruiz für Karl III von Spanien etwa den Ausbruch des Vesuvs dar, der im königlichen Palast von Riofrío bei Segovia (Spanien) erhalten ist. Sein erfolgreichstes Sujet nach den von ihm gemalten Repliken zu urteilen, von denen viele signiert und datiert sind, ist jedoch die Ansicht des Golfs von Pozzuoli, mit dem Hafen und der Burg von Baia im Hintergrund. In Italia meridionale questo fenomeno vede nei viaggiatori e nella casa reale borbonica i principali committenti: risoluti a celebrare la prosperità e la bellezza del territorio, le recenti scoperte archeologiche e le caratteristiche naturali. Ruiz a Napoli fu tra i primi vedutisti, la sua opera più antica è datata 1732 e la sua attività si protrae certamente fino agli anni 50. Durante la sua carriera raffigurò Napoli vista dal mare o vedute che illustrano larghi tratti della costa cittadina o la solfatara, in modo minuzioso ed ancora legato alla ripresa a volo d¿uccello ribassato.
