Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 2,200 Euro Obvious traces due to age Provenance: Private Collection, England Portrait of the Russian Tsar Alexander I in his favorite uniform. The Miniature belongs to a series of portrait paintings showing Tsar Alexander I. which were made by Domenico Bossi on behalf of the Russian court between 1809 and 1812. Condition: The ivory plate is slightly dished and broken at the upper part on the left hand side. The vertical crack is around 3 cm long. Likewise the color appears strongly worn on the left and right hand side. The painting is visibly retouched. Under inspection in ultraviolet light retouching are to be found especially above the tsar’s shock of hair. The medium’s dimensions are 6.5 x 3.8 cm and the frame measures 6.7 x 5.2 cm. The lockable travel case shows signs of usage consistent with age and measures 7.5 x 6 x 1 cm. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
